MGM Resorts International

Altura has been providing energy analysis, commissioning, and controls optimization services since 2013 as part of a long-term program to reduce the cost and energy usage of the central chilled and hot water plants of MGM Resorts properties including CityCenter, Bellagio, MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay, Mirage, MGM Grand Paradise-Cotai and more. Altura performed site visits to assess the performance of these plants based on observations and operator feedback, extracted trends from the automation system, and deployed temporary metering systems to identify systematic controls issues contributing to increased energy consumption. Altura is also overseeing the commissioning of full control system renovations at two facilities, ensuring the projects deliver optimized sequences of operations to reduce energy and maintenance costs.

The program includes discovery, analysis, implementation, and verification of numerous controls related retrofit projects, including cooling tower, chiller, and pumping optimization. The project to date has delivered more than $1 million per year in implemented and verified energy cost savings, with an additional $1.5 million per year in pending savings identified. The size of this portfolio exceeds 30 million square feet of real estate and includes more than 100,000 tons of cooling capacity.
