Clean energy continues to be a valuable investment across the United States, both commercially and residentially.

But not everyone has access to sustainable, affordable housing.

Altura’s own Jim Maclay, Ph.D., P.E., CEM, along with his counterparts at UC Irvine’s Advanced Power and Energy Program (APEP) and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), demonstrate a process for developing an accurate community-scale energy model for an atypical community when detailed energy data is unavailable. As the report in the latest Energy and Buildings published journal states, “This addition develops a roadmap for the development of a community-scale model by highlighting datasets, tools, and partnerships that were key to accurate model development. This contribution is accomplished through a case study of the low-income Oak View community, located in Huntington Beach, California.”

Read on to find out more about how Altura and our esteemed professional partners continue to prioritize accessible, sustainable energy solutions for all.
